Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Removal

CAUTION:

The radiator is pressurized when the engine and radiator are hot. Wait until engine and radiator cool down before working on the radiator.

1. Remove the collector cover.

(1) Carefully pull up the rear of collector cover at two positions (A).

(2) Carefully pull up the front of collector cover at two positions (B) while moving it forward.

2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. NOTE

3. Remove the air intake duct. Air Intake Duct > REMOVAL

4. Remove the front bumper. Front Bumper > REMOVAL

5. Remove the grille bracket.

NOTE:

Remove six clips when removing the grille bracket.

6. Drain engine coolant. Engine Coolant > REPLACEMENT

7. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from thermostat cover.

8. Disconnect the CVTF radiator inlet hose and CVTF radiator outlet hose from the CVTF pipe.

NOTE:

Plug the CVTF pipe to prevent CVTF from leaking.

9. Remove the CVTF radiator inlet hose and CVTF radiator outlet hose from the clips of the radiator fan shroud.

10. Disconnect the connector (A) and connector (B) from the radiator fan harness.

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. Remove the reservoir tank. Reservoir Tank > REMOVAL

13. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose LH and RH.

14. Remove the radiator upper bracket LH and RH.

15. Using the ST, remove the bolts securing the condenser lower bracket to the radiator.

16. Remove the bolts securing the condenser bracket, and remove the condenser lower bracket.

NOTE:

This procedure is required to prevent the lower gasket from being damaged when removing the radiator.

17. Remove the bolts securing the condenser upper bracket to the radiator.

18. Secure the condenser to the vehicle using ropes or other means.

NOTE:

This procedure is required to prevent the condenser from dropping off and also the air conditioner pipes from being damaged.

19. Remove the radiator from vehicle.

20. Remove the radiator lower cushion from the vehicle body.
