Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Disassembly

CAUTION:

Do not damage the piston rods and oil seals of stay assembly - front hood.

Never disassemble the stay assembly - front hood: They contain gas.

The hood COMPL - front is heavy. When removing or installing the hood COMPL - front, stay assembly - front hood, and hinge COMPL - front hood, be sure to work in a team of two or more persons.

Do not reuse any clips damaged during removal. The damaged clip cannot fix the insulator securely. Therefore, always replace with a new part.

1. Remove the clips, and remove the insulator - front hood.

2. Make alignment marks (a), and remove the striker - front hood from the hood COMPL - front.

3. Remove the stay assembly - front hood.

CAUTION:

Do not remove the stop ring completely. Raise it to the position enough to remove the ball stud.

(1) Gently push the stop ring against the ball stud to be raised with a flat tip screwdriver.

(2) Pull the stay assembly - front hood toward you, and remove the stay assembly - front hood from the ball stud.

4. Remove the hinge COMPL - front hood from the body.

NOTE:

The hinge COMPL - front hood cannot be removed with the fender COMPL - front attached. Therefore, remove the fender COMPL - front beforehand.

Installation
1. Temporarily fit the hinge COMPL - front hood around the original position on the vehicle body.2. Install the hood COMPL - front to the hinge COMPL - front hood.Tightening torque:25 N·m (2.5 ...
