Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Rezero operation
NOTE: When replacing the occupant detection system, or removing or disassembling the passenger’s seat, always perform «Rezero» after installing a seat in the vehicle. CAUTION: When the trouble occurs in the system during «Rezero», «DTC B1762 OCCUPANT DETECTION MODULE CALIBRATION NOT INITIALIZED» of the occupant detection system is detected, and the airbag warning light illuminates. In this case, turn the ignition switch to OFF, and then perform «Rezero» again. Or, fix the fault, and then perform «Rezero». 1. Park empty vehicle on a level surface. 2. Check that all harness and connectors are connected. 3. Check the following items to adjust the condition of the vehicle. • Adjust the seat backrest to be fully upright. (For models with power seats, press the power seat button until the backrest comes to a stop.) • Adjust the seat slide position all the way back. (For models with power seats, press the power seat button until the seat slide does not move any further.) • Do not place anything on the top of the seat cushion. • Sit on the seat cushion to smooth the seat surface. • Check that the passenger’s seat belt is not inserted into the buckle, not tense or not stuck. • Check that ambient temperature is in a range from 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F). 4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, then turn it to ON again. NOTE: • This operation is performed to readjust the standard of occupant detection sensor. • Do not touch the seat until the Rezero is completed. If you have touched the seat even if only once, perform operations from the step 3) again. 5. On «Start» display, select «Diagnosis». 6. On «Vehicle selection» display, input the target vehicle information and select «Confirmed». 7. On «Main Menu» display, select «Each System». 8. On «Select System» display, select «Occupant Detection». 9. On «Occupant Detection» display, select «Work Support». 10. On «Work Support» display, select «Rezero». 11. When «See service manual. And check vehicle condition for successfully completing Rezero.» is displayed, check the condition of the vehicle. 12. The message, «Rezero Adjust the passenger seat to the condition shown in service manual.», is displayed on the screen. Slide the passenger’s seat all the way to the back, check that the backrest is adjusted to the most upright position, and select «YES».
13. When «Rezeroing Unbelt the passenger seatbelt. YES NO» is displayed, make sure the passenger’s seat belt is unfastened from the buckle, and select «YES». 14. When «Rezeroing Confirm seat temperature between 0 and 40°C (32 and 104°F) YES NO» is displayed, check that ambient temperature of the seat is in a range from 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F), and select «YES». 15. When «Rezeroing Empty the passenger seat. Turn Ignition OFF, and within 10 seconds, turn Ignition ON again. YES NO» is displayed, turn the ignition switch to OFF and then ON again while the passenger’s seat is empty, make sure that airbag OFF indicator illuminates and airbag ON indicator does not illuminate, and then select «YES». NOTE: • After selecting «YES», «In process... Please wait for a while without touching vehicle.» is displayed. Do not touch or rock the vehicle while the message is displayed. • During the Rezero process, if «Rezero is unsuccessful See service manual. Press “YES” to END» is displayed, go to step 15). 16. When the Rezero is ended normally, «Rezero is successfully completed Press “YES” to END» is displayed. And then turn the ignition switch to OFF to finish the diagnosis. 17. During the Rezero process, if «Rezero is unsuccessful See service manual. Press “YES” to END» is displayed, turn the ignition switch to OFF and ON again, and then read the DTC of the airbag system. Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) When DTC is input, fix the fault and then perform the Rezero. When DTC is not input, check the seat and vehicle status and then perform the Rezero again. Rezero NOTE: When the Rezero is unsuccessful, there could be occupant detection system failure or improper seat and vehicle status. When the airbag warning light illuminates, read the DTC of the airbag system, and perform the diagnosis while referring to List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) |
